Two charts have been compiled by Ron McEwan and have been included for your interest. Statistical studies have not been undertaken to establish the significance of these diagrams and no firm conclusions may be drawn. However, it has been noticed in Chart 1 that the turn in Moon's declination from higher to lower is often associated with a S&P500 peak, while the turn from lower to higher declination usually indicates a low in the market. Similarly in Chart 2, higher market volatility is often recorded, when the moon is full and declination is high. Use such information with care as it has yet to be fully assessed. It may look good, but could prove invalid on further analysis.
This
shows lunar phase in relation lunar declination and Earth - Moon distance.
(declination is the
distance the Moon, or other heavenly body, is found north or south of
plane of the Earth's equator extended out onto the sky.) CHART 2 This gives the relationship between VIX, lunar phase and lunar declination.
