Appendix 5
INDIAN EARTHQUAKES
& THE 9/56 YEAR CYCLE
Moon Sun Finance
Appendix for the paper 9/56 year Cycles:
Earthquakes & Volcanoes.
Some 23 earthquakes were presented in the Earthquake
History of India and How safe are we? (see Appendix 1), of which 10 took place
preferentially in the 8 months ended August 30 of those years in the
9/56 year grid presented in Table A. The expected frequency was around 2.7.
This grid was expanded to include 14 56 year sequences (see Table B),
which contained 13 major earthquakes in the 12 months ended August 30 of
those years in Table B (significant p < .01).
There was limited information for pre
1850 Indian
quakes with some serious errors being apparent. The Calcutta
earthquake of October 11, 1737 fell in the 9/56 year grid in Table A, but it is
questionable how severe this event actually was. The claimed death toll
of 300,000 compared with the estimated 20,000 people living in the city
at the time.
Seasonality may show up in Table A with
two earthquakes happening on January 10 and January 15 and two
additional events taking place on March 29 and April 4.
